About Us
Charlotte County Websites, a division of Lack, Ransom & Assoc, Inc., is a small, home-based business in Port Charlotte, Florida. Our goal is to provide professional, yet inexpensive, website services to small-to-medium-sized businesses that may have been priced out of market by the big advertising agencies. By working from our home, we've kept our overhead expenses to next to nothing. You may not be impressed when you squeeze into our office, but we will catch your attention (and your customers') with our quality work and affordable prices.

We started our business in 1987 after my partner and I met while working for an ad agency. It was a couple years before computers had taken over the graphics industry; and we attended one of the very first seminars at which a Mac computer was connected to a Linotype typesetting machine. We were extremely impressed, but when our boss was slow to jump onboard, we took the plunge and bought one of the first Mac desktops. After spending a year learning it, we took off on our own.

At first, we only used our new Mac to design materials for printing: business cards, brochures, logos, mailers, catalogs, etc. Soon thereafter, advertising became much less expensive with the explosive expansion of the World Wide Web. If you wanted to reach 100,000 potential customers in 1990, the postage alone would have been $29,000.00 (based on the first class rate of $0.29). Add the average low-end cost of printing (about $1.50/catalog) and it's easy to see why small businesses might have had a problem. But for $1,000, you could build a website that reached those 100,000 potential customers (actually many, many more). So we gradually turned our attention towards building high-quality, eye-catching websites and Internet (search-engine) marketing. We can still design your logo and get your business cards printed; but our real goal is to promote your business on the Internet so that you can sell your product…and a lot more of it.
