If you fish upper Charlotte Harbor around the Myakka Cut Off to the bridge over the Myakka River at El Jobean, FL, you'll find the following links, tide charts and fishing reports most helpful.
Fishing Charlotte Harbor
Tide Chart
This is a tide chart for the El Jobean Bridge which is the best I found. As with any tide chart if you get a wind that blows the water out of the harbor the tides will be lower and sometimes off by an hour our two. But under normal conditions I find this to be the most accurate tide chart acvailable. Be glad to hear of a better one, email the URL to me.

Size & Bag Limits
Check this site for the size and daily limits for recreational anglers. Be careful. . . these are changed at least every year and can be very confusing. Make sure the page you go to has the right date! And make sure you watch the method you need to use to measure your fish -- tail pinched means you pinch the tail which actually makes the fish measure and inch or more longer than measuring to the "V" of the tail.
These are provided by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, they're more detailed but a little harder to read and use. You'll find lots of other information about boating, fishing, hunting and pretty much anything to do with Florida outdoors activities at the FWC website.

My wife and I got these 2 snook under the El Jobean bridge in early February of 2007. I use the Berkley Gulp 4" Pearl White,Swimming Mullet for almost all my fishing. On a 1/4 ounce white lead head it will catch everything. Things I've caught on it are Snook, Red Fish, Trout, Spinner Shark, Lady Fish, Cat Fish and Mangrove Snapper. The link below will take you to Amazon where you can buy this lure. It comes 12 to a package so its also cheaper than the Gulp Shrimp and I think it does a better job. Fish it VERY slow for reds, snook and trout. |

We got the 2 red fish on a trip in early March of 2007. Both on the Gulp Swimming Mullet. We were in the thin water around the Myakka Cutoff behind Hog Island.
