Lawn Care Organically (as possible)
Organocide
Organocide is a mixture of several oils from sesame seed and fish. My first experience was with leaf miners on my new lemon and lime trees. I used some insecticidal soaps and other mild sprays and then tried Organicide. And that did the trick.

So I started reading about it and found it worked for many insects and even fungi. Our grapefruit tree has always had a black fungus on the leaves and fruit. I know you've all seen it. Since I started spraying them every couple months with Organocide our leaves are green and the fruit is yellow and clean.

And the best thing is it is completely safe for humans, animals, fish, birds, etc. It has a little fishy odor but that goes away when it dries and it leaves a beautiful shine on the leaves.

I'm testing it now on our lawn which has become infected with chinch bugs. From all I've read Organocide will take care of these and many other pesty bugs. I buy it at Home Depot for about $15.00 per quart. It is mixed at a rate of 2 oz. per gallon of water. For my lawn I bought an Ortho hose end sprayer. The kind that you pour the concentrated oil in the container, turn the dial to 2 oz. and spray. It mixes the correct amount of water to oil as you spray. Works great!

Birds & Anoles

Grubs, Mole Crickets and Beetles think grass roots are like candy. This is where birds and anoles are your friends. They think these pests are candy. 2 other organic methods are "Milky Spore" and "Grub-Away® Nematodes South". "Milky Spore" is a naturally occuring bacteria that kills the pests but nothing else. So, if a bird eats the bug? The bird will be fine. The Nematodes are like micro worms that crawl through the soil and eat a variety pests.
